Honorable Norman G. Winston, Jr.

Norman G. (Norm) Winston, Jr. has spent his entire legal career advocating for landlords’ business interests for over 20 years. Norm is a graduate of The University of Alabama and Birmingham School of Law. He is the former Municipal Judge of the City of Gardendale and a former Jefferson County District Judge in the civil division, a role in which he adjudicated landlord and tenant disputes after being appointed by then Governor, Bob Riley. In 2006, Norm successfully completed General Jurisdiction at the National Judicial College located at the University of Nevada in Reno. Norm currently serves as co-legal counsel for Greater Birmingham Apartment Association. He is admitted to the Northern, Southern and Middle Districts of the United States District Court. He is also admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States of America.

A native of Birmingham, Norm is a third-generation lawyer who had the good fortune of practicing with his family’s firm prior to its merger with another successful Landlord / Tenant firm several years ago. He is a long serving member of the Board of Trustees at Southern Prep Academy and member of IPC Church. 

Norm is the proud father of four and is married to a supporting wife who is also licensed to practice law. Norm enthusiastically supports the Landlord industry through seminars and continuing education for attorneys and the courts.

Honorable Robert “Bobby” Bynon, Jr.

Robert Peyton (Bobby) Bynon, Jr. served as a judge on the Jefferson County District Court for 16 years. He received his A.S. degree from Walker Junior College and his B.A. degree from The University of Alabama at Birmingham. He then went on to the Birmingham School of Law, where he earned his J.D. degree in 1981. Bobby then worked as a private practice lawyer in the Adamsville-Forestdale area until he became a District Court judge in 2003. He was also a Graysville Municipal Judge from 1998 to 2003. In addition, he has served as an attorney for the Police Benevolent Association, the Daily Master for Domestic Relations in the Birmingham Division, and legal counsel for the Northern Conference of the United Methodist Church. While on the Bench, he served as an instructor for the Alabama Real Estate Commission, was a commission member of the Alabama Supreme Court Commission on Alternative Dispute Resolution, and served as one of the presiding Judges for the Basic Skills in Trial Advocacy for final trials at Cumberland School of Law. In 2015, he was presented with the Drayton N. James Award by the Birmingham Bar Association, Young Lawyers Section for exemplifying Judges James’ legacy of friendship, leadership, professionalism, and legal guidance to young lawyers. He and his wife, Judy, are very active in their church, The Church at Ross Bridge.
